Greg Longo ( Nature Coast HS, Team Tampa )

Head Coach and Founder, Hernando Lacrosse

 

 Greg Longo was raised in Bridgewater, NJ and his passion for Lacrosse began at age 11, under Coach Chuck Apel in Bridgewater’s Youth league. He attended Bridgewater Raritan High School where he was an outstanding four year Varsity Starter with the following achievements:

 

1988 All State Honorable Mention- New Jersey
1989 1st Team All State - New Jersey
1989 North / South All Star team – New Jersey
1989 Selected for the NJ Garden State Games team
1988-89 Leading Scorer Bridgewater Raritan HS West for Junior and Senior season.
 

Greg went on to be the Lead Freshman in scoring 18 goals at Kutztown University, PA.

After his playing career completed, Greg continued his commitment to the game and began coaching in 2000 at Ravenscroft High School in Raleigh, NC.  In 2001 he was instrumental in developing a first year team at Apex High School, in Raleigh, NC and within five years propelling it to its first North Carolina State Championship with a 7-6 victory over favored East Chapel Hill High School.  After relocating to Florida in 2005, Greg brought the game to Hernando County and developed The Hernando Lacrosse Club, “The Crusaders”.  As Head Coach and Director he currently heads the program which includes all levels, Varsity down to youth and The “Lady Crusaders" High school girls.   Additionally, for the past 5 years Greg has coached Elite Travel Teams in Tampa, and is currently teamed with Paul Goldsmith as Assistant Head Coach for the Tampa Bay Sandsharks U-19.

 

Greg Longo, as Head Coach of the Hernando Lacrosse Club in its inaugural season was voted the West Florida Lacrosse League's "Coach of the Year for 2006".
